Monkeys make life difficult Manwal | | | Ashwani Sharma Early times report Udhampur, July 13: Monkeys have unleashed a reign of terror in Manwal tehsil Majalta area near here. These animals have thrown normal lives of the people in tehsil Manwal out of gear. BD gupta a retired deputy director of ISM (Indian system of medicines ) told Early times that people of many villages have stopped cultivating crops of massize, vegetables and fruits as monkeys in flocks use to come and raid the agriculture fields destroying the crops thereby putting the farmers to losses. "Even school going children are not left. Monkeys attack school bags of the children and look for some eatables inside and in doing so they spoil books of the children," Radha Rani-a homemaker informed. Other ladies of the area complained that their cooked food too is not safe in their homes if kept unlocked as monkeys freely venture into their homes raiding the kitchen and spoiling everything and eating away cooked food as much they can and wasting the remaining. Many people have started keeping dogs at home as a safeguard against monkeys but the dogs too get scared when herds of monkeys conduct 'surgical' strikes in villages. The locals have appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and get some solution for the menace so that they can heave a sigh of relief. |
