Due to competitive separatism both PDP and National Conference are trying to exploit sentiments of innocent people of Kashmir on this issue but administration during Governor Rule has taken a historic decision to conduct work on July 13. Ethnic and religious minorities of J&K were demanding since decade that there was no need to declare state holiday on July 13 because on this day in 1931 according to them, a well-planned attacks on religious minorties were started in Kashmir Valley which still continues in one or other way. Despite in power for a long period of above three years, BJP leadership had miserable failed to take a tough stand on this issue. What to say of canceling state holiday on this issue, BJP leadershi has rather failed to even include October 26, Accession Day or September 23, birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh in the list of holidays. Today Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam convened meeting of the Administrative Secretaries and asked the officers to ensure an emphatic, responsive and prompt administration. He said that all the pending issues of public importance in various Departments must be processed in the right earnest for consideration of the competent authority. Earlier on Thurday the state government had approved the proposal to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, for conducting elections of sarpanches directly by the electorate of halqa panchayats and not by the indirect method of electing sarpanches from among the panches themselves. The decision was approved at the fourth meeting of the State Administrative Council (SAC) held under the chairmanship of Governor NN Vohra on Thursday. Advisors to Governor BB Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai besides Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam attended the meeting. The move will restore the original position in the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989, which provided for direct elections of sarpanches, a position altered by an amendment passed in 2016. |
