Upgrade anti-ingress grid to ensure peace | | | Since Pakistan continues to export terror in the shape of helping groups of militants to cross into Kashmir the entire security scenario was reviewd by the Northern Army commander. During his review of the situation he was satisfied with the steps the Indian Army have taken to upgrade the anti-ingress grid. Still the Army commander asked the troops to intensify round the clock patrolling so that militants were not able to cross into Kashmir. Following the reports reaching New Delhi that Pakistani troops had brought over 200 milit ants on the launch pads across the LoC and on the IB the Army commander, accompanied by GOC 15 Corps, carried a thorough review of the situation in the volatile Kupwara sector where the two senior functionaries of the Army suggested to the troops, deployed on the LoC, to take all possible measures to foil ingress bids. The Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh concluded his recent 4-day visit to the State by visiting the forward areas of Valley to review the prevailing security situation and strategy for counter infiltration and counter militancy operations. Accompanied by GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen AK Bhatt, the Army Commander visited forward posts in Kupwara where he was briefed on the counter infiltration grid and operational preparedness of the formations. "The Army Commander was appreciative of the measures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) instituted by the units and formations to meet the challenges posed by the inimical elements. During his interaction with the troops, , the Army Commander lauded them for their high levels of morale and round the clock vigil which they maintain to thwart infiltration bids by the militants. The Army Commander exhorted them to continue to work with same zeal and dedication to defeat enemy's hostile designs. The Army commander also lauded the synergy amongst all the forces and agencies, be it along the Line of Control or in the hinterland to meet prevailing and emerging security challenges. The senior functionaries of the Army and the BSF, guarding the International Border from Akhnoor to Kathua, understand the gravity of the security scenario that too when troops across the LoC and the IB plan to push groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir for the purpose of raising the level of violence. Once these Pakistani militants sneak into Jammu and Kashmir they incite people to attack security forces with stones and when the security forces retaliate there are some casualities and injuries. Such events kick up commotion derailing peace. Once Pakistan stops sending militants into Kashmir the valley could taste peace which Islamabad does not want. |
