JKNPP protests near Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi | | | Agencies
New Delhi, July 14: Agitated over the frequent reports and rumours of 'horse trading' to form the govt by unethical means in view of the suspended Assembly in J&K, the intrepid and an indefatigable Panthers spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman, Balwant Singh Mankotia State President and Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers staged a vociferous protest demonstration near the office of Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi today. Addressing the media, Harsh Dev Singh lambasted the BJP for reportedly enticing the rival legislators to convert them into turncoats by unethical practices."The attempts of horse trading had made the political parties nervous and brittle who were struggling to keep their legislators intact and rescue them from getting trapped into corrupt deals. BJP being the front runner in the dirty game was again indulging in dangerous tactics to form the govt in J&K on the analogy of Goa and other north eastern States", Harsh divulged. With both the parties, the BJP and INC unable to form the government on their own in Goa and Manipur after the elections last year, the Saffron party poached the elected members from the smaller regional parties including the independents to form the bizarre coalition governments against the people's mandate in both the states. Likewise, in Meghalaya which threw a fractured mandate in the elections this year, the impulsive BJP once again stood first in the 'queue' to tie the knots with NPP (National People's Party) and forged an unexpected alliance to form the government, elucidated Harsh. While condemning the seditious statement of Mehbooba Mufti warning the GoI of serious repercussions if her party was rattled and broken by the Centre, he also held BJP squarely responsible for offering enticements to the rival MLAs in a bid to form a ruling combine by coercion. "The obnoxious mechanism would surely push the State towards further ruin and disaster. The holy mandate of the people can't be sacrificed for satiating the greed of power. The 'rat race' for power had picked up momentum to threaten the very essence of the democracy as the menace of horse trading and other corrupt practices were endangering the political discourse of the State", Harsh rued. Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpaul Kundal maintained that both the constitution and the democracy were being held hostage by the Central BJP for its political fortunes. They further reckoned that in the wake of the political uncertainty, the grant of all perks, amenities, emoluments and CDF to members of suspended Assembly, whose rights and privileges stood suspended during the period, defined all logic and rationale. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Ramesh Khajuria, Dildar H. Beig, Raman Dogra, Surjit Singh, Mohinder Singh, Arun Khajuria, Vishav singh, Abhimanyu besides others. |
