Governance results improve during Governor's rule, 80 percent complaints disposed off | | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 14: Redressal of grievances and finding solution to problems of common masses are corner-stones of a successful government and the previous two dispensations of Jammu & Kashmir failed miserably in this regard while putting people to trouble. Governor Narendra Nath Vohra led the State Administrative Council (SAC) has made a difference in this regard. The state administration has of late become very responsive to the problems being confronted by the common masses. The same has been proved by the figures dished out by the Grievance Cell. The Grievance Cell previously known as Chief Minister's Grievance Cell has disposed off 80 percent of the complaints or grievances received by it during the 24 days of Governor's Rule. The rest are under the process of being solved and these too are likely to be solved over the next one week or so. An official spokesman here said that since the imposition of Governor's Rule from 20-6-2018 to 13-7-2018, the Grievance Cell received 4,623 complaints/grievances, of which 3,810 have been disposed of/forwarded to the concerned quarters for their timely redressal; and 1665 complaints/grievances are under process. "During this period, Governor's Secretariat received 1510 complaints/grievances, of which 1395 complaints have been disposed of forwarded to the concerned quarters and 115 are under process," said the official spokesman. Sources told Early Times that the deficit of governance was very much visible during the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government in the state. They said that complaints lodged with the Grievance Cell or any other concerned forum would remain unaddressed. "Given the lackadaisical attitude from the people at helm the complainant was forced to call it a day and there were instances that the complainant withdrew his complaint. However, ever since the Governor has assumed charge things have changed and changed for good. The officers have been made accountable and it means a lot for the common man," said sources. Sources said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir are up against many problems and they look upon their elected representatives to get them resolved. However, as politics has assumed centre stage the basic problems of the people have remained unaddressed. In such a scenario the government is least bothered about the problems and the likely solutions. "As soon as an elected representative becomes a minister he or she believes that something great has been achieved. Given this fact the problems of people remain as it is and no solution whatsoever is found to the same. However, of late the things have changed and hopefully this change would go on with positive results for the people," said sources. |
