Early Times Report

Jammu, July 15: A sub-inspector (SI) who has been posted as in-charge police post in one of the police posts in Rural belt of the Jammu District has allegedly found a new way to mint money by convincing the victims through different tactics and later on striking deals with accused persons.
"A Sub-Inspector is misusing his position to extract money through his self invented technique by moulding victims by various tactics", said sources adding that later he strike deals with accused persons for escaping action in lieu of money.
If sources are to be believed, few days ago a gang of thugs took away Rs 15,000 from a shop situated in a small town falling under the jurisdiction of said in-charge police post and following the incident, the shopkeeper reported the matter to the police. Despite the fact that the matter was caught in the CCTV the officer intentionally not registered the matter in roznamcha, said sources.
"After few days of the incident, the same gang again appeared in the same town but was overpowered by police and the officer in question also called the complainant to police post", said sources adding that later the officer convinced the victim for not going legally against the thugs as he returned Rs 15000 from the thugs to the victim.
Sources further claimed that when the thugs were overpowered by police, Rs 80,000 were also recovered from their possession.
After returning Rs 15,000 to victim, the officer took Rs 65000 with him and gave custody of the accused persons to another police station.
It is pertinent to mention here that the said officer this month also struck a deal with a woman who was allegedly kidnapped and raped to shield the alleged rape accused.
The officer gave Rs 2,50,000 to the victim for changing her statements to provide benefit to the accused party from whom the SI had already taken huge money.
