Director FCS&CA visits Jammu Central Store, orders physical verification

Jammu, July 28: Amit Sharma, Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Jammu yesterday made a surprise visit to Central Store Jammu to check the level of storage, stacking, disbursement and condition of Rice, Atta and Sugar in different gowdowns and ordered to conduct a detailed physical verification of stocks in all Jammu Stores to be conducted in a span of one month by a team headed by Joint Director of the department.
During the visit, Director, FCS&CA Jammu was accompanied by two Deputy Directors Kulraj Singh and J.S Jasrotia apart from AD, Trade & Stores, Joginder replies to various points raised by him. He specifically espressed his concern that this Central Store must have proper renovation in few areas where there was water seepage which caused direct risk of damage to stored stocks.
Amit also directed concerned officials to make sufficient arrangements to control menace of rodents, rats and seasonal insects which create threat of health hazards and wastage of stored materials. During interaction with labourers and staff, he pointed out that there should be proper hygienic conditions and clean water availability for labourers working in Central and other stores of the department and concerned staff should take adequate measures for ensuring same.
The staff at Central Store also showed a faulty Weighing Scale Machine (Kanda) which was troubling in daily passage of truck-load materials from Gowdowns of the Central Store for which Director FCS&CA decided to go for replacement in near future and usage of available PWD Weight Machine (Kanda) within the same Complex as a stop-gap arrangement so as to continue uninterrupted movement of ration supplies.
Before concluding the visit, Director Amit Sharma directed to get fresh repairs and renovations estimates for existing FCS&CA stores do that immediate repairs could be carried out in near future for safe and secure upkeep of ration supplies material in Stores of the department. He emphasized on bringing systemic changes with usage of Technology like Web Cams, GPS tracking, Aadhaar based ePDS, Supply Chain Management System to streamline the working of the department.
