Anantnag, July 28: Governor N N Vohra has approved reconstitution of Governing Body of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Srinagar and has removed two 'blue-eyed' and tainted members from the body.
This newspaper had earlier published exclusive reports regarding the fraudulent constitution of SKIMS Governing Body and faulty faculty selection process.
While taking strong note of these reports, Governor Vohra finally approved the reconstitution SKIMS Governing Body. Dr M S Khuroo, former Director and Dean SKIMS, has been nominated again as member of the Governing Body. On June 13, Dr. Khuroo was ousted as Vice-Chairman, Apical Selection committee & Member of Governing Body reportedly for raising voice against the irregularities committee by the authorities in faculty selection process.
Order (vide No. 63-SKIMS of 2018, dated July 28) regarding the reconstitution of Governing Body of SKIMS was issued Saturday by Director SKIMS Prof. Javed Omar Shah.
"In supersession of all previous orders on the subject, sanction is hereby accorded to the re-constitution of Governing Body for Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura," reads the order.
Governor Vohra will be the chairman of the Governing Body while as Advisor (V) to Governor, Advisor (K) to Governor, Advisor (G) to Governor, Chief Secretary J&K, Director AIIMS New Delhi, Prof M S Khuroo former Director and Dean SKIMS Soura, Dr Puneet Dhar Chairman Gastrointestinal Surgery and Liver Transplant Services AIIMS, Kochi, Kerala, Principal Medical College Jammu, Principal Medical College Kashmir, Principal SKIMS Medical College & Hospital, Bemina Srinagar and Director SKIMS will be the members.
Earlier on July 25, Early Times published a report titled, 'Norms flouted in constituting SKIMS Governing Body' and on July 12 a detailed report titled 'Conflict of interest' polluted SKIMS faculty selection process was also published.
On July 10, a report titled 'SKIMS authorities mulling to make public 'faulty' faculty selection list' was also published and irregularities committed during selection process.
ET learnt from reliable sources that Governor took strong note of all these reports and not only approved the reconstitution of governing body but ousted two 'blue-eyed' doctors who were nominated as the members of governing body by the previous PDP-BJP government in violation of norms.
