| Hardcore Narcotics smuggler booked under PSA | | NARC Cell working on organised crime | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 14: Udhampur Police today booked one of the hardcore narcotics smugglers and main suppliers of narcotics to youth under Public Safety Act (PSA).
Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Udhampur said that the narcotics smuggler namely Rafaqat of Assar presently staying at Near Sain Baba Mandir Devika Udhampur was a habitual criminal and number of times arrested in different cases of heinous nature including narcotics, attempt to murder besides other criminal cases.
"A dossier with regard to his criminal activities was prepared and submitted before District Magistrate, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar who after careful consideration issued orders of his detention under Public Safety Act", said SSP Udhampur.
He further said that a team of Udhampur police station led by SI Vishav Partap Singh under the supervision of Kulbir Handa DySP HQ executed the warrant for detention under Public Safety Act.
It is pertinent to mention here that Udhampur Police has established NARC Cell at Udhampur, which is vigorously working on preparing database of all hardcore criminals, narcotic smugglers and bovine smugglers who are frequently found involved in various intermingled criminal cases, especially those affecting youth.
NARC Cell is a first of its kind set up in the state, tasked to unearth the network of organised crimes so that all of them could also be got booked under stringent laws besides attachment of the property raised through illegal means. |
