Jammu, Sept 14: G.D.C. Kathua won the Inter Collegiate Badminton (Men) Tournament 2018-19 by defeating the defending champion GDC Udhampur in very close contest. GDC Kathua won 1st singles and got lead in the start of the match by 1-0 while GDC Udhampur marked its comeback by winning 2nd singles and 1st doubles and take the lead to 2-1. Again GDC Kathua equalizes the lead to 2-2 by winning 3rd singles. In the final match GDC Kathua outplayed GDC Udhampur in the 2nd doubles and lifts the Inter Collegiate Badminton (Men) Tournament 2018-19 with final score on the board 3-2. Akshay Mahajan of GDC Kathua and Dhananjay Sharma of GDC Udhampur both played extraordinary and won their respective matches. Prof.Neeru Sharma, Chairperson Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion who distributed the Trophies and Medals among the winners and runners up and congratulated the winning Team.
Among others present on the occasion were Raman Gupta, Ashok Kumar, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Vinay Manhas, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, Pardeep Kumar and Harinderpal Singh. The final match was officiated by Vikram Jamwal, Ravish Vaid, Rakesh Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Ankit Sharma and Sanjeev Sharma. The Inter Collegiate Badminton (Men) Tournament 2018-19 was organized under the direct supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba Director, Directorate of sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. |
