Jammu, Sept 14: Nationalist Congress party has welcomed the decision taken by Governor to hold municipal as well as local body elections as per schedule.
Former minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP Chief said that with Governor's rule in place in Jammu and Kashmir and no vested interest of regional politicians like Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti at play, there is an opportunity to empower local governments to try and ensure devolution of funds rather than these remaining in the hands of a few MP's and MLA's or worse, unspent. |
