JAMMU, Sept 23: The ongoing indefinite chain hunger strike of Teachers' Joint Action Committee ( TJAC) in support of implementation of 7th pay commission being held near Press Club of Jammu today entered 25th consecutive day whereas it entered 21st consecutive day at Srinagar.
The hunger strike at Jammu on 25th day was organized under the leadership of State President JKRTTF Vinod Sharma, State Chief Coordinator JKRTTF Sukhdev Singh Sumbria, Provincial President Rajesh Jamwal and District President Kathua Rakesh Singh.
A large number of teachers on the occasion also held a strong sit in protest demonstration on the 25th day even in a rainy day, against the casual approach of the government towards SSA teachers and masters who have been deprived of 7th Pay Commission till date and their salaries have not been delinked.
The teachers who sat on 24 hour fast today morning include Vinay Pathania, Jiwan Singh, Sandeep Gupta, Sohan Lal, Sudesh Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Sulinder Singh, Romesh Singh, Parshant Khajuria, and Anil Kumar.
Meanwhile, thousands of teachers led by TJAC Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani held a peaceful protest march from Partap Park Srinagar towards Governor House but police foiled the attempt and used water cannons to disburse and even detained scores of teachers who were later released.
