India had to call off talks with Pakistan | | | India has called off the proposed talks between the External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. India had no other alternative. Killing of three policemen an d warning the police to quit their services, beheading of BSF jawans on the IB in Jammu sector and the incidents of violence by militants had possibly forced India to call off the talks. And the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has expressed disappointment at India calling off a meeting between him and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New York and said that "internal pressure" forced New Delhi to make the "unfortunate" move. Qureshi expressed disappointment at the cancellation of the foreign minister-level talks, saying it was "unfortunate." "It is unfortunate that India has not given a positive response. Indian has once again wasted an opportunity for peace," Qureshi has stated. How can India give a chance to peace through talks when Pakistan continued to export terror to Jammu and Kashmir? Now that India was willing to hold the ULB and Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir New Delhi did not want to create an impression of bowing down to the wishes of Pakistan. And Pakistan had plans of creating turmoil and disturbances to wreck the proposed elections so that the polling percentage was quite poor. At least Indis has a right to assert its strength and not cave under the pressure of Pakistan. And if India is getting ready to teach Pakistan a lesson or two for its export of insurgency and terror to Jammu and Kashmir Islamabad cannot berate New Delhi. In fact for the last 28 years or so India has suffered a major losses in life of security personnel and Government infrastructure mainly because of the Pakistan sponsored insurgency. And the situation has taken a grim picture when groups of militants keep on recruiting educated youth within Kashmir into their outfit so as to raise the level of violence. And the Union Home Ministry has directed security forces to initiate massive operations against the militants and against separatists so that militants were not able to create scare among the police, by gunning down three of the constables in south Kashmir, to quit the force. |
