Week long activities on Swachhta Hi Sewa concludes

Jammu, Oct 1: To commemorate the 150 Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS Unit of Sant Mela Singh College of Education, Digiana, Jammu organized week long activities on Swachhta hi Sewa in the college premises started from 24th September, which concluded.
Today, on the concluding day of the programme, Dr. Kiran Luthra, Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of the pupil teachers for their participation in various activities regarding Swachhta hi Sewa.
In her address she highlighted that Mahatma Gandhi strived to lead the country to a better India and a pollution free society and stressed that youth of the community to work together for common cause.
12 withdrawn, 368 candidates in fray for Kathua ULB polls

Kathua, Oct 1 : There are 368 candidates in fray for Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections in all five municipal committees and one municipal council of Kathua after the last date of withdrawal of nominations in Kathua.
Meanwhile, 12 candidates withdrew their nomination forms in Kathua, today.
Out of 368 candidates in race for ULB polls in Kathua district, 194 are independents, 27 from state party and rest 147 are from national parties, DEO Kathua, Rohit Khajuria informed and further added that the polls are slated for October 10, from 7.00 am to 2.00 pm.
All the necessary arrangements are made before hand to ensure smooth conduct of poll process and instructed everybody to adhere to the model code of conduct guidelines, DEO asserted.
One candidate namely Surmu Din of ward 2 of Lakhanpur municipal committee stands elected unopposed. Programme was anchored and vote of thanks was moved by NSS Programme Officer,Prof. Jasmeet Kour.
