Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 4: Apprehending disturbance in the upcoming Panchayat elections by a notorious criminal, authorities have booked and detained him under Public Safety Act (PSA) for his repeated involvement in criminal activities. Police identified the criminal as Abdul Rashid of resident of Pargal village of Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district. Police spokesman further said that the said accused was a 'History Sheeter' of Darhal police station since 1999 and remained involved in a number of criminal activities in Darhal tehsil area and was becoming a major threat for people of the area. The cases which stand registered against him those of theft and burglary, assault, kidnapping, rape, damage of properties as well as drugs trafficking while he also stands booked in a case of Militancy Act. He was also booked in a case 148/2010 under sections 458, 323, 342, 366, 147, 148 RPC that was registered after he along with some more men kidnapped a girl only one day before her marriage. Keeping in view the repeated involvement of said man in criminal activities, SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas submitted a PSA dossier to District Magistrate Rajouri, who issued PSA detention order after which PSA has been slapped on the said notorious criminal. |
