Up-gradation of SDH Hiranagar nowhere in sight | | | G S Asgotra
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 5: The callousness on part of government to transfer a piece of land to the Health department is hampering the up-gradation of Sub District Hospital (SDH) Hiranagar from 30 bedded to 100 bedded hospital which was announced five years ago. During the previous coalition government, the Health department had upgraded the SDH Hiranagar from 30 bedded to 100 bedded and announced that for the upgration of the hospital, a chunk of land under the possession of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) would also be transferred. But after lapse of many years the government has failed to transfer the land to the Health department. "Given the inordinate delay, the up-gradation work of SDH is still in oblivion", said sources. They said when the Choudhary Lal Singh took over the charge of Health and Medical Education ministry, he speeded up the process and file was sent to General Administration Department (GAD) for final nod. However after change of guard at ministry level, Singh's successors Bali Bhagat and Darvinder Manwal did not pursue the matter, with the result the file was gathering the dust in GAD. A doctor deputed in SDH said that the administration of SDH Hiranagar has submitted Detail Project Report (DPR) of extension of wards with worth of Rs 50 lakh to the Health department. But due to non-availability of sufficient land in the said hospital, the DPR is not accepted by the department concerned. Sources further said the concerned MLA had raised the question over delay in transfer of land during the budget session. But despite assurances from both Health and Education Ministers, the up-gradation of the hospital did not see the daylight, thanks to the GAD authorities. |
