CJM rejects bail in dowry death case

Jammu, Oct 12: CJM Jammu Ashwani Sharma rejected the bail application of husband in dowry death case.
While rejecting bail application of Shahid Ali, S/o Mohd. Khan, CJM Jammu Ashwani Sharma after hearing Senior PO Rohit Gupta for the State observed that as a result of the inquiry and the statements of the witnesses, it was established that the death of deceased by consumption of poison has been caused due to the cruelty, torture, beating coupled with demand of dowry by the applicant herein and his brother namely Bahdur Ali. Thus, commission of offence U/Ss 498-A/304-B RPC have been established against the applicant.
The accused is in the custody of police from 23.09.2018. Since, the accused is involved in the commission of offences U/S 304-B/498-A RPC which are heinous in nature and are committed against the society at large and if the accused is enlarged on bail, the same shall shatter the trust of the family of victim and common people in the judiciary. Moreover, the investigation is at its initial stage, as such, the accused does not deserve the latitude of bail at this stage.
