Saahil Suhail Early Times Report anantnag, Oct 12: The Idaar-e-Tehqeeqat Islami or Islamic Research Institute (IRI) has removed Qazi Yasir as Mirwaiz of South Kashmir after a obscene video and apologetic audio clip went viral on social media. Yasir is the head of Ummat-e-Islami, a socio-religious organisation based in south Kashmir. As reported earlier, an undated video of Yasir, showed him doing an obscene act in a video call with a girl who is reported to be a resident of south Kashmir. The incident has prompted uproar across the Valley, following which Qazi family removed Qazi Yasir from all the responsibilities. Reacting to the calls for stepping down from the affairs of IRI, the maternal grandfather of Qazi Yasir, Mohammad Abdullah Shah, issued a video statement saying that he (Yasir) will no longer be Mirwaiz South Kashmir. "We are taking away the post of Mirwaiz South Kashmir from Qazi Yasir and he will also step down as president of IRF keeping in view the aspirations of people," Abdullah, patron of the IRI said. As reported the leader, in an audio clip, which is viral on social media, admits to have committed the act. "I can't repeat something that I have repented," he tells the mediator who suggests him to meet the girl and 'pacify' her. The girl, however, has not yet lodged any complaint against the separatist leader with police neither has she approached any civil society or Hurriyat group. Despite repeated calls, Qazi Yasir could not be reached for his comments. |
