Training on nursery raising techniques in fruits plants organized | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Oct 12: In continuation of 35 days Skill Development Training Programme on Fruit Crops Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Department of Horticulture, Reasi imparted training on "Fruit plants nursery raising techniques and management "to young aspiring entrepreneurs and farmers here today on 12-10-2018 at Govt. Fruit Plants Nursery, Pouni. The programme was attended by 20 participants from different areas of Reasi district. The programme was organized under the guidance of Associate Director Extension and Incharge of KVKs of SKUAST-J, Dr. R.K. Arora and Director Horticulture, Jammu Anuradha Gupta. The programme was co-ordinated by Chief Horticulture Officer, Reasi, Vishnukant Gupta. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi apprised the participants about the scope of fruit plants nursery raising for entrepreneurship development in the area and highlighted the significance of quality planting material. He elaborated scientific nursery raising techniques in subtropical fruits crops. He said that proper spacing should be kept in the seeds while raising the nursery. He further added that fruit crops budding and grafting techniques can increase the income and employment among the rural youths. He guided the participants for the timely weeding and nutrient management in the fruit crops. He demonstrated the propagation techniques in sub-tropical fruit crops and highlighted the veneer grafting and air layering in the mango and litchi crops respectively. A special video show on commercial fruit crops was also organized which was viewed keenly by the trainees. |
