Should retired officials, govt fund seekers contest elections? | | | Rajesh Tandon Early Times Report Poonch, Oct 25: The youth have taken exception to contesting of elections by retired persons and those seeking funds from the government. According to them, such persons should not be allowed to contest elections. Instead youth should come forward. However, some senior citizens made clear that anybody under the constitution of India can contest elections. Even though many retired government employees and others who are seeking funds from government Treasury had taken part in different elections, but these employees and funds seekers have created the tension for unemployed youth of the nation. The youth have a point. "If a person forced to retire by the government contests elections, how can he work for the betterment of the people? If he failed to work for the people in one capacity, there is every possibility that he may fail again," they said. They have appealed to governor Satya Pal Malik to make it mandatory that, the contesters may unemployed. |
