A senior NC leader is in touch with Cong | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 25: Realising that Assembly elections may be held with Lok Sabha elections, political parties have kicked started "operations" to lure potential leaders of other political groups so as to win as many as seats in the coming elections. Some prominent leaders, who are annoyed with their leadership, are looking for other options before announcement of the elections to secure their future. Credible sources said that a NC leader, who is a former minister, has opened channel with the Congress to explore possibilities of shifting loyalty before the elections. The NC leader, who is in touch with Congress leadership, is considered to be close to NC president and former Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah. "Before joining Congress, the NC leader wants assurance of getting party mandate", sources said and disclosed that due to factionalism in the party this NC leader was hesitating to join Congress because there was no surety of getting mandate. Sources said that this NC leader has very cordial relations with son of national leader of Congress party. Already a senior NC leader had quitted the party a year back. This leader is also in touch with Congress and would join the party at appropriate time. |
