On Sardar's birthday, Congress was attacked by BJP for mishandling J&K
Patel Vs Nehru
11/1/2018 11:28:16 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 1: The nation on Wednesday celebrated Sardar Patel's birthday with pomp and show. PM Narendra Modi unveiled the "Statue of Unity", world's tallest status, and called it a historic day. The BJP also used the occasion to lambaste the Congress and the manner in which mishandled J&K.
The BJP blamed the first PM of India JL Nehru and the entire Gandhi family for the mess in the State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The BJP tore into the Congress soon after AICC president and son of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, held the Narendra Modi Government responsible for the killing of army personnel in Kashmir Valley. "Kashmir is on fire because of the BJP," Rahul had said. "Jawahar Lal Nehru handing over Jammu & Kashmir on a platter to the United Nation caused this whole dispute which didn't exist earlier. All other princely states merged peacefully into India, but Nehru went to the United Nation and caused this dispute. He and his family are responsible for the present situation in Jammu & Kashmir and we are trying to rectify it," the BJP said.
Berating Tahul Gandhi for making baseless allegations, the BJP further said that unless he furnishes proof of his charges, people would not take him seriously. He is moving all around the country just making charges. It has become his habit to make unsubstantiated allegations.
The BJP, which itself has been mishandling the state, was right when it quoted Sardar Patel to tear into the Nehru-Gandhi family. Sardar Patel had opposed four things. He was not for taking the issue of Pakistani attack on Jammu & Kashmir to the UNO, but Nehru overruled him. Patel, like BR Ambedakar, was not in favour of the idea of granting autonomy to the state, but Nehru didn't agree and went with Sheikh Abdullah of Kashmir and drove the state away from the national mainstream. Similarly, Patel was not in favour of announcing ceasefire. He wanted the Indian Army to throw out of the state all Pakistani invaders, but Nehru announced unilateral ceasefire and that too at a time, when the chivalrous Indian army had the Pakistani intruders on the run. This helped Pakistan to retain control of J&K's 1/3rd territories comprising Gilgit-Baltistan and the areas we call PoJK. Besides, Patel was against the idea of offering plebiscite in J&K to Jinnah on November 1, 1947 at Lahore, but the nominated Governor-General of India, Lord Mountbatten offered a plebiscite. The point is that the BJP on Wednesday tore into the Nehru-Gandhi family and held it responsible for all the troubles facing the country in J&K.
