Non-teaching staff gets salary according to 7th Pay Commission, teachers denied same | Vishwa Bharti College Rainawari-Srinagar goes to dogs | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 1: Vishwa Bharti College located in the Rainawari area of Srinagar district has gone to the dogs since the teaching faculty is being harassed on one pretext or other by the employees who belong to the non-teaching section. A group of female faculty members of the college while narrating their ordeal to Early Times said that harassment is being meted out to them on different pretexts. The teachers said that non-teaching staff is dictating terms to the teaching faculty and there is no one to set right the things at the college. "It is pity that the recommendations of Seventh Pay Commission have been implemented for the non-teaching staff while as the teaching faculty has been denied the same. This is despite the fact that necessary enhancement has been done with respect to the budgetary allocation for the college," said the teachers. Ninety five (95) percent of teachers at the Vishwa Bharti College are females and these teachers have to face harassment and maltreatment on daily basis. They said the management of college is threatened of dire consequences if they tried to get the things done in a systematic manner. "The state government has increased the budget for the salary of college staff by Rs 70 lakhs for the present year and same was done in order to pay the salary according to the Seventh Pay commission. Although, the non-teaching staff is being paid salary to Seventh Pay commission the teachers are being denied the same," said the teachers. The teachers said that the half of the arrears of Sixth Pay Commission due to them have not been paid so far all these years. They said that there is huge misappropriation of funds at the college and the same needs to be probed in a transparent manner. "Since the Principal and Section Officer belong to the non-teaching category they are getting salary according to the Seventh Pay Commission. These officials are sabotaging the move to implement the same for the teachers of the college. There is no government order that would say that Seventh Pay commission recommendations are implemented for one group of employees and same is denied for the other group," said the teachers. The teachers said that the bio-metric attendance for the staff members has been set up near the male washroom adding that it is uncomfortable for them to go there and mark their attendance. They said that although Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) have been installed in the college no such provision has been made at the place where bio-metric attendance system has been set up. "The non-teaching staff at the behest of the higher ups abuses us and harass as well. We are not allowed to move out of the college even for getting medicines and at the same time we are forced to park our vehicles outside the college premises. The situation is dire at the college," said the teachers. The teachers said that despite approaching the grievance cell and the local police station no action whatsoever has been taken so far. They said that Governor Satya Pal Malik and his advisors should intervene in the matter so that the college regains its lost glory. |
