SAMBA, Nov 1: A woman pedestrian was killed in a road mishap near Veer Bhoomi Park here today. The deceased woman has been identified as Rani Devi, 45, wife of Tilak Raj resident of Ward No 9 Samba.
According to sources, the mishap took place on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at around 6 in the morning near Veer Bhoomi Park Samba, when the woman was crossing the road adding that an unknown vehicle coming from Kathua side hit her and fled from the spot. As a result of hitting, the woman got critically injured and was shifted to District Hospital Samba with the help of police, however, the doctors declared her as brought dead and the body of the deceased woman was shifted to mortuary of District Hospital Samba. After conducting the autopsy, the body of the deceased was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites. In this regard Police has taken cognizance the matter and started investigation. |
