Mohammad Sarfaraz Early Times Report BUDGAM, Nov 22: Despite allocation of funds and other resources, most of the villages in Beerwah constituency and thesil lack basic facilities. Villagers expressed dismay over lack of basic civic facilities including road, water and power supply. The general public here faces one problem or the other; water, dilapidated roads, insufficient electricity and absence of good transport, people have time and again approached the authorities to provide the basic facilities which the common masses should have been in this age of IT and computer technology, sources told ET. Sources said that, "many times in the past we have knocked the door of politicians but nothing has changed." There are scores of villages which have hardly seen any development from past few years, and among them are Mamgund, Peth Mokhama, Qumroo, Ramdar Chakpora, Nasarpora, Otilgam, Nasoo, Pethkoot, Rawatpora, Shuligund, Wachoo, Wanihama, Shipora and other adjoining area that lacks basic facilities, sources informed. Sources said that, the health care facilities are located several kilometers away from various distantly placed hamlets. In case of emergencies, the caregivers carry the patient on their shoulders in a cot. There is no option except to cross the strenuous paths of hills and forests to reach hospitals and that adds the gravity of the medical crises, sources complained. A resident of Nasarpora Tral, Bashir Ahmad have said that, the problem doesn't end here only, but the habitants of these villages claim they never received electricity since past some years, and if they received that is almost next to nothing, while as they have to use traditional methods of lighting including candles and lanterns. People from other areas of Beerwah constituency have also made a complaint that inhabitants of this constituency believes that there were many natural springs in the area, but there is drinking water scarcity as the government and local leaders have failed to construct a water supply in the area to provide filtrated water to the people. Locals have said that majority of the constituency falls on mountainous region and people have to carry drinking water from a long distance as tap water remains available for few hours a day. Roads are in bad conditions and at some routes patching was done, but during rainy season that made the life miserable for school going children and for old aged people, sources added. |
