BJP cuts a sorry figure as Ram Madhav apologizes to NC | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report srinagar, Nov 22: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders today had to face an embarrassing situation after their national general secretary Ram Madhav apologized for his comment that National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received dictation from Pakistan to form the government in Jammu & Kashmir. Madhav sounded apologetic after Former Chief Minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah today said that thousands of NC workers died after they refused to budge before the Pakistan's diktats in the Kashmir valley. As soon as Madhav landed at Aizawl in Mizoram he expressed apologies and said that it was out of love that NC and PDP decided to form the government in the state. Addressing a press conference, Omar asked the BJP national general secretary to prove his claims adding that linking NC workers with Pakistan is an insult to the sacrifices of 3000 workers of the party who fell to the bullets of militants in the valley. He said that Madhav launched the campaign after BJP failed to form the government in Jammu & Kashmir. The NC Vice President expressed surprise as how the fax machine at Raj Bhavan was rendered defunct on Wednesday evening as soon as PDP President Mehbooba Mufti sent a letter through fax for staking claim for formation of a government with the outside support of NC. He said the fax machine worked moments later since the order about dissolution of assembly was faxed from the same machine at Raj Bhavan. "Governor himself admitted the horse trading from the other side which had claimed the support of 18 MLAs who were bound to vote and support as per the whip of the party. Governor admits the defection of 18 MLAs by the other side but he won't find any scope to level of horse trading charges against any of the three parties NC, PDP and Congress," said Omar. The NC Vice President said that they had come together for forming a government to defend strongly Article 35-A, safeguard special status of the state particularly Article 370. He said that his party had recommended dissolution of assembly from the date the PDP-BJP collapsed following the latter's decision to pull out of the coalition. Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, Ghulam Ahmad Mir termed the dissolution of assembly as undemocratic and unconstitutional. Mir told reporters here that PDP and NC had shaped a formula to form the government, which was also supported by the Congress. The PCC Chief said the dissolution of assembly indicates the 'frustration' of Governor's bosses in New Delhi, saying that they don't want secular like-minded people to form the government in Jammu & Kashmir. "The alliance between NC, PDP and Congress didn't suit BJP and the central government, therefore they directed for the dissolution of assembly," he alleged. It would be in place to mention here that some of the BJP leaders in the state had also followed their national general secretary and blamed Pakistan for government formation in Jammu & Kashmir. BJP State President Ravinder Raina even went a step ahead and said the decision in this regard was taken at Pakistan High Commission. |
