Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen releases photograph, claims to have conducted meeting in Srinagar | | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 22: Militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen today released a photograph, showing a militant in Srinagar Lal Chowk, to claim to have conducted a command council meeting in Srinagar as per the program. The militant in photograph has been identified as Umer Majeed alias Hanzalla. In the photograph, Umar Majeed can be seen posing near Ghanta Ghar Lal Chowk in Srinagar. A police officer told early times that authenticity of photograph is being verified. Earlier a letter went viral on social media that in which militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen claimed that they would hold its command council meeting in summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss issues and plan future course of action has appeared on social media sites. The letter carrying the Hizb logo and Hamzah Hizbi mark had appeared on social media sites on Saturday. According to the letter, militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen will hold its command council meeting in Srinagar on 21st of November. "It is to inform all you that on November 21st of 2018 Hizbul Mujahdeen Jammu and Kashmir would be holding it's command council meeting in Srinagar. This year the meeting will be presided over by our senior member from Shopain," read the letter. The militant outfit has challenged security forces by saying 'let they stop us'. The outfit said that command council will hold deliberations on various issues and future course of action. "Some of the minutes of the meeting will be made public after the successful completion of meeting," reads letter issued by operation commander Mohammad Bin Qasim. The letter, according to sources, had come under the scanner of security agencies and they are verifying its authenticity and militant outfit's motive of circulating on social media. Command Council meetings of Militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen are mostly held in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. These meetings are chaired by Syed Sallahudin and decisions are being taken in PoK. In 2000, Militant outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen held last command council meeting in Srinagar and announced ceasefire fallowing which central government suspended all militancy related operations in Jammu and Kashmir. The decision of ceasefire was announced by the operational commander Abdul Majeed Dar, on July 24 in year 2000. |
