Excise Department intensifies drive against illegal export of sand, paddy

KATHUA, Nov 22: In an endeavor to check the illegal export of Paddy, Sand / Bajri, the Enforcement wing of Excise Department (Toll Post Lakhanpur) laid different nakas at minor Toll Posts Nagri and Gandyal during past week.
A sum of Rs 2.10 lakh and Rs1.50 lakh on account of realization of toll on illegal export of Paddy and Sand/ Bajri respectively was recovered from different Toll evaders. During the week, different camps were also organized by the department at Village Unde Chack, Gandyal, Kote Punnu etc to aware Toll evaders regarding importance and levy of Tolls on different commodities as prescribed in the J&K Levy of Tolls Act, 1995.
The whole operation was supervised by Deputy Excise Commissioner, Ashish Kumar Gupta and carried out by Excise & Taxation Officer, Aamir Ayaiz Rather, Inspectors Sanjeev Sen and Sudhir Sharma and Sub-Inspectors Ravi Kumar, Manvinder Pal, Sheikh Touseef, Naseer Ahmad and Ravinder Singh.
Talat Parvez Rohella, Excise Commissioner, while appreciating the team of Toll Post Lakhanpur for its sustained efforts to tackle the Toll evaders and enjoined them to carry on their special drive to thwart their nefarious designs.
