HC asks courts to fix calendar for trial involving MLAs, MPs | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 11: The State High Court today directed all the courts under jurisdiction to fix a calendar for each of the cases involving offences punishable with imprisonment for life and death against sitting or former MPs and MLAs. "In pursuance of the directions dated 04.12.2018 passed by the Supreme Court in the subject case, all the Courts within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir before whom criminal cases involving former and sitting legislators are pending are directed to fix a calendar for each of these cases to be taken up on day-to-day basis giving priority to the trial of the cases in the following order: (a) Offences punishable with imprisonment for life/death against sitting/former MPs and MLAs. (b) Serious offences punishable with imprisonment of 5 years or more against sitting/former MPs and MLAs. (c) Other offences against sitting/former MPs and MLAs," reads an order issued here by the registrar general. |
