Udhampur, Dec 11: Believe it or not a village named Katyala falling under Panchayat Summan in Tehsil Panchari district Udhampur reels under darkness since independence.
About 48 km from district headquarters Udhampur, the village never had any electricity connection as people here are unaware about power cables and poles.
"We went outside the village to get our mobile phones charged," Bushan-a resident of the village said.
Surprisingly, the government claimed recently that the entire state was electrified.
The village also lacks road connectivity. The locals here have expressed resentment against the elected BJP MLA of dissolved assembly for failing them.
"We to want that out children get good education but how long they will study under the candle light," Beena Devi, a housewife said.
The villagers of this hamlet have appealed to the Governor S.P Malik to look into the matter and get their village electrified. |
