JKTDC hotel in Srinagar hosts anti-India function | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 11: In a major embarrassment for the state government, a Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) owned hotel in the heart of Srinagar hosted an anti-India function where the participants spoke against New Delhi. Officials said a former lawmaker from north Kashmir hosted a seminar at the JKTDC owned hotel in Lal Chowk on December 10. The seminar was attended by people from various walks of life including politicians, businessmen and government servants. During the seminar that continued throughout the day, the participants trained their guns at Government of India. One of the organizing participants in his provocative speech said that "Either New Delhi must declare that Kashmiris have no rights or must let the truth come out. The fact is that the Kashmiris are facing worst aggression at the hands of security forces since last 29 years and New Delhi has lost the moral battle". Accusing the security jawans of getting indulged in "worst human rights violations" the participants said "The fact is that security forces doesn't even make a nominal attempt to save the precious lives and for them being a Kashmiri or holding a gun in hands is enough to get someone killed." The participants said, "In fact New Delhi has been misleading not only entire world community but its own people about the atrocities being committed on unarmed Kashmiris irrespective of age, caste and gender." A police official said it was shocking to see how the JKTDC allowed an anti-India event to be held in the government premises. Sources said a senior official in the JKTDC has been allegedly "least bothered" about the working of the corporation. "He is most of the times busy chitchatting with we don't know whom," said an official in the JKTDC. He said the things in JKTDC have been in a mess for the past few months when the Raj Bhawan gave charge of the corporation to one allegedly tainted official. "When those accused of #MeToo charges are given the top chairs the working of such corporations can only be imagined," said one insider in JKTDC. Sources said a group of concerned citizens are writing a letter to the Prime Minister's office to apprise him about the sorry state of affairs in the state. But a JKTDC official denied the charges. "How would we know what the participants would speak at the seminar. Media persons have a habit of making mountain out of molehill," the official said adding that the MD JKTDC should be contacted. Despite repeated attempts the MD JKTDC couldn't be contacted for comments. |
