92 families of Hill Kaka village demand compensation | | | M S Nazki

Poonch, Dec 11: As many as 92 famlies of Hill Kaka village in Surankote Sub division who had migrated in the wake of operation Sarvanaash to flush out militants from the area and destroy their hide outs in the year 2002-03 have demanded the compensation from the state government whose files were biting dust in the DC's office, sources said here today. They said 92 families who migrated to Buffliaz and other safer places in the Surankote returned back to their homes and herths in 2007 after the successful launch of operation Sarvanaash by army which left their homes and property damaged, adding during the operation 4 civilans were killed in cross firing and compensation files therein were pending in the office of Dy Commissioner Poonch. Rs. One lakh each to the family of killed persons and a tent was provided by the government while other benefits were yet to be provided to them for which they were running from pillar to post sources said. They said the compensation money was also received by the Revenue department according to reports but the then tehsildar Surankote misappropriated the same. Since years have passed but we get nothing said a social activist of the area Javid Iqbal while talking to Early Times adding that we were left high and dry on the name of compensation though my family lost four people in operation beside the property got damaged he added. While talking to SDM Surankote Mohd Salim Qureshi told Early Times that the compensation files were under the consideration at DC office and after necessary formalities the files will be cleared for compensation SDM added. |
