Kishtwar police registered FIR in IGNOU's BEd exam gate scandal

Kishtwar, Dec 22: A day after "Early Times" highlighted the mass copying scandal at various examination centers of IGNOU across the state, Kishtwar police on Saturday registered an FIR against two persons after prewritten answer sheets were recovered from them while appearing in the BEd examination at Government Degree College Kishtwar.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Kishtwar Police on the basis of the complaint lodged by Superintendent TEE Dec 2018, SC 1267 (GDC Kishtwar) addressed to SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Kishtwar Police registered an FIR NO. 316 of 2018 Under Section 420 RPC & 2/5 Prevention of Unfair means examination act against the accused identified by the police as Musarrat Hussain (Enrolment No. 184307253) and Johar Ali (enrolment No. 184277999).
The answer sheets recovered from them belongs to some private IGNOU examination centre. Speaking to "Early Times" a senior police officer confirmed the registration of an FIR against the two government teachers. "All the IGNOU centrw proprietors of Kishtwar district will be summoned and the records will be thoroughly checked to trace the real culprits behind this exam gate scandal," he added.
The police officer also said that in case the need arises, the police would seek the help of the IGNOU authorities for tracking the nexus which was involved in the crime as well as leaking of IGNOU question papers.
The officer urged the students of IGNOU centers to come forward to help the police in clearing the muck in IGNOU private centers. He said that police would soon arrest both the absconders.
As reported by "Early Times", over 20000 Government teachers had enrolled themselves at IGNOU centers at Padder, Marmat, Samba, Kathua, Ghat, Doda and other places as the Education department has necessitated the B.ed for all the teachers.
As a part of this year examination, several government teachers along with others appeared in the BEd examination at IGNOU of GDC Kishtwar where the staff on duty seized the two pre written answer sheets with different serial numbers.
As soon as the incident took place, the accused tried to make all efforts to hush up the matter, but some college staff members immediately brought the matter into the notice of local police and CID wing who immediately rushed to the examination center.
After seeing the police party led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani coming, both the accused fled from the spot.
The sources inform the "Early Times" that around 800 government teachers were enrolled for this year BEd examination at private IGNOU centers in Kishtwar district added that majority of them were charged between Rs 50000/ to Rs 80000/ and if the amount collected by the private examination centers could be added, the figure crossed more than Rs. 4 crore.
The sources said that all the BEd papers held so far have been leaked in advance. They called for immediate cancellation of examination beside action against such examination centers.
