PDP rival group gets 'third front' support | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 22: While a senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party is set to float a "rival faction" of the PDP, he is getting support from some "third front quarters", who were previously loyal to the Mufti family. Sources said the PDP leader in question who is also a businessman has allegedly been in constant touch with two senior politicians from Tangmarg and Khan Sahib, Budgam. Both the leaders have their own parties and have been ministers in the past. Sources said at the meetings held between the two groups it was unanimously decided that the rival faction of the PDP would be given external support by these two politicians. It was reliably learnt that besides these two politicians, one senior PDP leader from Pulwama who has also remained an MLA, would also support the rival faction. Sources said a group of Kashmiri businessmen have been relentlessly supporting the PDP leader in letting him achieve his aim of forming a new party. Sources said the said business lobby has been promised by the PDP leader that "all their interests would be taken care of if he is able to achieve his goals." "Some of the main faces of the lobby include a hotelier and a car dealer who runs a chain of showrooms in the state," said a senior PDP leader in know of the matter. Sources said the new party was likely to be floated in the first week on January 2019. "As of now, the group is completing the ground work, which was mainly focused on the external support," said a source. Interestingly the two leaders from Tangmarg and Khan Sahib had been previously close to PDP President Mehbooba Mufti. Infact, sources said in 2016 Mehbooba had approached the duo to "help her government" come out of the unrest that year. Sources said as of now, the two faces have turned more loyal towards the businessman turned politician and want to help him float his party. Sources said there were "no monetary issues" for floating of the new party or to get support as the leader in question has "no dearth of money." "Boss has told that money is not the criteria so we are trying to rope in as many faces as possible and have been hoping for the good news soon," said source close the PDP leader. Despite repeated attempts the PDP leader in question couldn't be contacted for comments. |
