Widow 'victimized' by a tehsildar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 22: In a glaring example of victimization, a widow has been running pillar to post to get income certificate from Revenue Department to seek pension benefit but concerned tehsildar is making her run. Sources told Early Times that Kunti Devi wife of Nirdesh Kumar, who lost her husband in October 2018, had moved an application for issuance of income certificate to concerned Tehsildar office to apply for widow pension. "Whenever I visit the tehsildar's office, he sends me back by giving lame excuses by saying that he is busy and can't sign and asks me to visit some other day," she alleged saying that she was made to wait for hours together to meet the Tehsildar and after long wait when she met the officer, she was humiliated by him. She said, "Earlier he used to say that he is busy with panchayat elections. Although it has been more than two weeks since the completion of elections but he has not issued my income certificate. Even a written complaint has been forwarded to concerned official against the erring tehsildar for not discharging his duty honestly." The official, she said, had assured the complainant to look into the matter but nothing has been done till date. "It has been more than fifteen days that I am continuously visiting the office for the issuance of certificate but the adamant officer is reluctant to sign the document," she alleged. "This is not the only case, even the most of the people who visit the office to get their work done are treated shabbily, which ostensibly reflects the corrupt mentality of the officer, who hardly shows interest in doing public works," sources said. |
