Farooq to regain power if he secures regional autonomy for J&K | | | The National Conference President, Dr Farooq Abdullah, has started seeking moon for the people if voted to power. He has right in the beginning promised voters that if voted to power he would first of all get regional autonomy for the state. And secondly, he has promised if voted to power he would ensure that there are no cases of human rights violations by the security forces. If Farooq finds going tough in the elections he may promise even independence for Jammu and Kashmir. Yes, there is no doubt about his win in the ensuing elections whether these polls are delayed or not Berasting National Conference (NC) and its leaders for raising autonomy and other contentious issues when out of power, Union Minister in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh has said that the so-called Autonomy resolution passed by the National Conference (NC) led Government was summarily rejected by the then Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. Dr Jitendra Singh has claimed the rejection was meekly accepted by the National Conference leadership without any sign of protest. He has stated had they been so sincere and concerned for autonomy, then Dr Abdullah and Omar Abdullah should not have wasted a minute in resigning as Chief Minister and as Union MoS. But they both continued as CM and Union MoS because they don't want to lose power. Dr Jitendra Singh should know it better than anybody else that autonomy resolution was not accepted by he former BJP led NDA Government. The then central Government had not rejected regional autonomy. And this time Dr Abdullah has promised people if voted to power he would start with securing for the state regional autonomy. As far as autonomy is concerned, the state of Jammu and Kashmir has maximum quantumn of autonomy. The state has a separate flag and constitution. Even under Article 370 central laws can be applied to the state only after approval of the state legislature. Where as in rest of India elections are held after five years and this law applies to then Lok Sabha polls. But in case of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are held after six years. And who is not born inside the state territory is not allowed citizenship rights depriving them from any state Government job or admission in the educational institutions run by the state Government. See the fate of refugees from West Pakistan. Though they are in Jammu for the last 60 to 70 years they are not be granted citizenship rights depriving them from participation in the Assembly poll. But they could cast their votes for Lok Sabha elections. This way Dr Farooq is right when he promises people with regional autonomy which could end regional discrimination an d majority of people, especially those belonging to Jammu and Ladakh regions would support it. |
