Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 25: After a prolonged phase of uncertainty, three posts of Chief Engineers in R&B were finally filled recently by the government. Early Times had earlier highlighted adhocism at the top level in several government departments including R&B. Government on December 21 accorded sanction to the placement of inchagre, Superintending Engineers as inchagre Chief Engineers in R&B in their own pay and grade. According to the order, "Balbir Singh incharge SC, REW Jammu has been posted as Chief Engineer, Chenab Valley Power Project (P) Limited against the available vacancy, as the post was vacant for more than four months, Mohammad Iqbal Mir and Showkat Ahmad Jeelani duo incharge SE, have been made incharge CE", sources in department said. Sources, however, said placement of these engineers as incharge CE, was an incomplete step, as fresh three positions of SEs fell vacant, government should also fill these vacant positions. Expressing gratitude of Early Times for raising the issue, a senior engineer said that their grievance never found any place in media. "It is right time for Governor headed state administration to do justice with us", he said. "Adhocism takes care of state exchequer, but not the morale of work force, we deserve full respect like KAS, KPS, Doctors, Agriculture and other officers, there should be proper mechanism to grant time bound promotions to the engineers", he added. |
