Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 25: The court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Kashmir, R. N. Watal, who also holds additional charge of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar, also imposed a fine of Rs 10000 on the official, Shafat-ul-Rehman, the then Patwari Halqa Aarth Budgam. The Vigilance Organization Kahsmir had charge-sheeted Shafat-ul-Rehman following a written complaint lodged by Farooq Ahmad Dar on 28 May 2009, alleging that his father had exchanged his land with one Ghulam Mohi-u-Din about 30 years ago and since the levy for the land had not been deposited in the Government Treasury. Farooq approached Shafat-ul-Rehman, the then Patwari Halqa Aaruth Budgam who allegedly demanded Rs.15000 as bribe for preparation of the challan and depositing of levy. After hearing counsel for revenue official and Riyaz Ahmad, Senior Prosecuting Officer, the court held the revenue official guilty. The court sentenced the convict to undergo simple imprisonment for one year for offence punishable under section 5(1) r/w 5 (2) of P. C. Act and also to pay a fine of Rs.10,000. |
