Jammu, Dec 25: Team Odisha outclassed the Jammu and Kashmir team in the all the three departments as visitors vanished the hosts by 8 wickets in the Ranji Elite C group match. The match between the two teams was played at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground, Jammu.
Resuming the last day of the match, the hosts were 272 for the loss of 7 wickets. Captain Parvez Rasool and Aamir Aziz Sofi gave some tough fight for the opponents on the four day. Parvez scored quit well and on the hand Aamir played good shots as well.
Parvez scored 158 runs and could have scored double century but he chipped one ball in the air and was caught on the mid on minutes, before the lunch on the four day of the match. Aziz showed some class giving a hint to top orders how to bat on home ground soil.
Both the pairs added 110 runs partnership for the eight wicket. Mudhasir played some entertaining innings of 31 runs better than the genuine batsmen. Both the bowlers vanished after the lunch giving 195 runs for the visitors to chase. Team Odisha continued their batting form and chased down the total in 49 over with eight wickets in hand. All the four batsmen scored in double figures with timely partnerships to put the team across the line. Santanu Mishra was the highest runner scorer for the visitors. Experienced Abhishek Raut was adjusted man of the match for his brilliant century in the first innings against the host as it took the game away from the hosts.
Earlier, the hosts won the toss and continued their batting woes and were bundled out for 127 runs with few players scoring in double figures. The Odisha capitalized on the first innings low score of the hosts and score big with Abhishek Raut scoring unbeaten century for his team putting his team up front.
On the other hand with 196 runs second innings trail in the second innings, host had to score big but they failed to do so and it cost them match. Parvez Rasool scored 158 runs after failing in the first innings while as all the other batsmen's failed in one of the innings while few failed miserably.
Team Jammu and Kashmir are placed 7th on the group table, with 2 wins, one draw and four lost matches. J&K team will play Assam on 30th December at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati.
Brief score card: Odisha team first innings 323-10 (Abhishek Raut 116, Debasish Samantray 85: Irfan Pathan 4 wickets) Second innings 197-2 (Santanu Mishra 78: Rasool 1) won by 8 wickets. J&K team first innings 127-10 (Owais Amin 44: Suryakant Pradhan 4 wickets). Second Innings397-10 (Parvez Rasool (c) 158 runs: Basant Mohanty 4 wickets.
