| Locals start work on road after collecting money | | |  Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Dec 28: The people from Harmutta and Dumma in Gursai area of of Mendhar Sub division in Poonch district held protest demonstration against PWD authorities as a 4 kms road, sanctioned in 2006 Year has been abandoned after only earth work, adding sufferings of over 1500 population of this belt of Mendhar sub division
This road was sanctioned by the authorities under PWD during 2006 The work was allotted to a local contractor and he after completion of earth work abandoned this road. Since then, this road during rains turns into marshy track, full of large pits. Even it becomes very difficult to move on foot on this road by people. It is not even trafficable till date.
This 4 kms road from Harmutta to Dumma will be beneficial for the population of Gursai Harooni ,Nima , Sar, Harmutta and Dumma connecting main road if completed. The people of the area led by Imtiaz Ahmed held strong protest and raised slogans against Executive Engineer PWD Mendhar, Chief Engineer PWD . The people have now decided to repair this road with their own resources. They have collected money from villagers and started repair work. |
