| Dogri conference exposes ‘champions’ of Dogra cause | | Closure of AIR Dogri unit at New Delhi widely criticised | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28: The self-proclaimed champions of Dogra cause were widely criticized during Dogri Mahanta Diwas wherein intellectuals, writers and academicians raised concern over step-motherly treatment with the Dogri language at various quarters.
The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) which claimed to champion Jammu and Dogra cause was also widely criticized as being in Union, its involvement in the closure of All India Radio's Dogri Unit in New Delhi could not be ruled out.
The academicians, intellectuals, writers present during the Dogri Mahanta Diwas observed on December 22nd, expressed serious concern over the closure of AIR's Delhi Unit of Dogri.
"Over an year back, the Dogri Unit at New Delhi was closed down by the higher authorities and the Dogri staff was reduced and then remaining was sent back to Jammu, whereas the Kashmiri unit of AIR at New Delhi was still running at New Delhi", the writers observed, adding that this was step-motherly treatment with the Dogri as well as Dogras.
The so called champions of Jammu and Dogra cause, didn't speak or organize any protest demonstrations or organized a rally against the closure of AIR's New Delhi Dogri unit. "It held at a time when a Dogra DrJatinder Singh is Minister in Union cabinet and BJP is in power but despite then they failed to stop such regressive step against the Dogri's", an academician said, adding that the BJP claim of Jammu cause has itself exposed at every front.
"During the conference, the writers also raised the issue of starting a separate Dogri channel of Doordarshan on the pattern of Koushar", a writer present during the conference said, adding that even the writers also demanded for starting of Dogri departments in various universities of other states as well as all the Universities of the Jammu and Kashmir.
Three resolutions were passed in the Conference which includes restoration of AIR's New Delhi Unit of Dogri, starting of a separate Doordarshan channel of Dogri, and establishment of departments of Dogri in all the Universities of state as well as in the universities of other states.
"All the resolutions will be forwarded to the concerned governments including state government as well as Union government", an official of Academy said. |
