Detained for opening fire, property dealer released after striking deal with SDPO, SHO | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 28: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) who has been posted as Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in the outskirts of Jammu district and one of his Station House Officers (SHO) struck deal with a property dealer for not registering the FIR against him after the latter fired gun shots in air with his licensed weapon to intimidate his adversaries. If sources are to be believed, incident took place few days ago when the said property dealer had some heated exchanges with other party over a land dispute, following which he fired some gun shots in air causing panic in the area. Sources further said that the property dealer who opened fire was taken to police station which falls in the jurisdiction of the same SDPO and there he was coerced into a deal for not filing an FIR against him. "He was told that he would be released only after he got the agreed amount delivered to SDPO" sources disclosed. "The notorious property dealer was released after he honoured the deal" he added. It is pertinent to mention here that seniors officers of the district were in the know of the incident but they preferred silence for obvious reasons. |
