| Veteran Engineer O N Waklhoo passes away | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28: Teacher of versatile engineers, O.N. Waklhoo, passed away in Pune after a brief illness. He headed the Regional Engineering college where he trained scores of engineers who held very important posts in Mechancial wing, Elect ricity wing and civil engineering wing of the state Government. He was nearing 85 and is survived by his wife, Khemlata Wakhloo, and two sons.. He was a nice person as a teacher and as an engineer. He was appointed in the state Government as Assistant engineer but he opted for teaching and that led him to do PhD in engineering in Germany. His wife remained in politics and was a former Tourism Minister. Large number of people, including Kashmiri Pandits, visited his house to express grief on his demise. Though his wife was in politics but O. N. Wakhloo nenver dabbled in politics. He was well respected and continued to live in Kashmir even after the migration of over 3.50 lakh Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. And it was the regard for Mr Wakhloo that led to his st ay in Kashmir with the help of several muslim neighbours. |
