Stop playing blame game, find way out of plights: Prof Ashok to BJP
'PoK DPs hunger strike'
1/6/2019 8:50:47 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 6: PoK DPs indefinite Chain Dharna that is being held under the banner of S. O. S. International-An organization for PoK Displaced Persons today entered in Day 11 at its headquarter in Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
Led by Prof. Ashok Kumar and accompanied by Vishal Sudan, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Ashwani Gupta, Jagjit Singh and Kuldeep Singh lambasted the Government for keeping step motherly conduct against PoK DPs who have been sitting on Chain Dharna in biting and chilling winter that started on December 27, 2018.
They pledged to take the battle to ultimate conclusion that is being fought tooth and nail by S. O. S. International under the chairmanship of Rajiv Chuni.
While speaking in Dharna, Prof. Ashok reacted very harshly to statement made by BJP that other political parties are visiting at Dharna Site for their vested interests. He added that BJP blamed other party for excluding 5, 300 families from the package and patting its back.
"It is quite unfortunate that politics is being played over those who have been going through ultimate trauma and faced genocide of their near and dear ones in 1947. "The leaders visited to dharna site as they were willing to meet us moreover, we have invited every one and even, we haven't stopped BJP to come our dharna site and listened to us. BJP should have visited us like other parties and it should have shown its concern to redress our issues but on the contrary, it indulged in blame game and that too, over the plight of PoK DPs who left with no option but to sit on Chain Dharna so that Government can listen to our problems. Our issue is a humane issue and humane approach should be displayed by all the people. All the parties must refrain themselves from playing politics and work at war level to resolve the plights of the world's most destitute community who was forced to fight for their rights on streets and roads from its own elected Government", he added.
"BJP states that the present relief amount to the tune of Rs 5.50 lakh is just a tip of iceberg as it is just only 1st installment of more liberal funds after the judicious utilization of present fund of Rs 2, 000 crore. I would like to ask that if 1st installment has taken such a long time of more than 3 years then, one can easily assess that it will take decades to disburse the full relief amount. BJP leaders must visit to our Dharna Site so that we can discuss the things in details. We need disposal of demands and we don't have any enmity against any one. PoK DPs are the worst sufferers of the tragedy of 1947 and they want justice nothing else. PoK DPs have become football among political parties who are playing politics over us. We are demanding what, only implementation of rest of the package in toto. What is wrong in this? Our demands are quite genuine and these need to be fulfilled at earliest", he stated.
