BJP fails at refugee front also, betrays POJK, West Pakistan refugees

Jammu, Jan 6: Apart from its failure on developmental front or to end discrimination with Jammu province, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has also failed to address the issues of refugees of POJK as well as West Pakistani refugees..
The BJP leaders have been boasting of release of a meagre amount of Rs. 5.50 Lakhs to the families of Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) refugees, registered in 1947 but that was actually a betrayal with the refugees.
"We had reposed our faith in the leadership of BJP and voted in their favour but BJP virtually betrayed with us by paying us such a paltry sum of Rs. 5.50 Lakhs, which turned out to be merely few thousands to the refugees", a refugee leader said.
He further said that the Department Related Parliament Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by BJP leader, Venkaiah Naidu had submitted their report in year 2014, with several recommendations including payment of Rs. 30 Lakhs per family to refugee families, reservation of seats for refugees out of total 111 seats of legislative assembly, along with some other recommendations.
"No other committee is higher than the parliamentary standing committee and it was headed by BJP leader but if BJP government didn't accept its recommendations in the tenure of four and half years and then who will do that", the leader rued, adding that even there was no talk of taking back areas illegally occupied by Pakistan in erstwhile Poonch state, which were our ancestral villages. "The BJP can easily de-freeze the seats in the state legislative assembly reserved for refugees but it didn't paid any heed towards this matter also", another leader said, adding that even the regional parties would not have shown any resistance but the BJP only needed votes of refugees and it has nothing to do with the issues of refugees.
Similar is the case of West Pakistani refugees (WPR), who had fully supported the party in last parliamentary elections. "BJP is in majority at the centre as well as they were earlier coalition partners and has its president rule in state, they can resolve the long pending issue of WPR by granting them citizenship rights but there seemed no end to the worsening situation of refugees", a WPR leader said, adding that apart from merely a voters for parliamentary elections, none of the political party has any concern towards our issues.
The leader further said that some of the leaders might be supporting the BJP for their personal gains but at ground level, strong resentment is simmering among the refugees for ignoring them.
The ignorance of the issues of WPR refugees as well as POJK refugees might cost heavy to the party in upcoming polls.
