JAMMU, Jan 6: Former bureaucrat Kiran Wattal was elected as the president of Jammu and Kashmir Gymnastics Association (JKGA) for the term of four years. Kiran Wattal was elected unanimously during the elections of the JKGA held here today at Amar Singh Club. Wattal is also a sports promoter and a regular player of badminton. He represented Punjabi University in body building and weightlifting and have won several medals in various competitions. Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu and Ashok Singh, Manager M A stadium were the observers from J&K State Sports Council whereas Narinder Mohan was the observer from Gymnastics Federation of India. Dushyant Sharna, President and Prof Dr Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary of J&K Olympic Association were also present in the meeting, whereas Kuldeep Jamwal, president Rifle Shooting Association of J&K was the observers from JKOA. Earlier, in the meeting the previous body of office bearers was dissolved and thereafter, the house nominated a Returning Officer for conducting the election of the Association for the term from 2019 to 2023. Amongst the members who were present Ashutosh Sharma proposed the name of Kiran Wattal for the post of president while Sunil Sharma seconded it. Then the full house authorized the newly elected president to nominate / elect the team of other office bearers of JKGA in consultation with the other senior members, international and national medalist gymnasts. The other prominent members who attended the meeting were Vijay Saraf, Deepak Handa, Vikas Gupta, RC Chib, Adarash Pal Gupta, Manish Gupta, Ravinder Singh International Athlete and Ramesh Mahajan, Ranji player and vice president of JKOA were also present. |
