Ajit Colony Welfare Committee holds meeting | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: A meeting of the executive body of Ajit Colony Extension Welfare Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Harcharan Singh. The members discussed various important issues facing the locality and expressed distress over continuous neglect of their demands including construction of deep drains, vacating of the encroached JDA land for the proposed JDA colony at Gol Gujral and black topping of the roads and bye-lanes. The members said that the disparity and discrimination which this colony has suffered because of apathetic attitude of those at the helm of affairs is a matter of concern. There is much talk of cleanliness these days but this is too shallow and mostly limited to slogans, photo sessions and publicity and there is no depth in it. Had there been genuine concern for clean Jammu, no colony in the capital city can remain deprived of one of the basic amenities i.e. drainage system for clean and hygienic surroundings even after 70 years of independence. The sufferings which the residents have to go through because of pot holes and ditches during the current rainy season can't be described in words, the meeting observed. The members have appealed Governor and Advisor to take necessary steps to remove disparity being meted out to their colony and take all the necessary steps to provide deep drains and black topping of the roads in the locality. |
