Pakistan should remember talks and terror cannot coexist | | | If Pakistan Foreign Minister,Shah Mehmood Qureshi has blamed India, during his talks with Hurriyat Chief Molvi Umar Farooq, for not responding to Islamabad's efforts to reopen channels of talks Qureshi is wrong. He is wrong for berating India for not reopening doors of talks because India has laid down some preconditions for Pakistan to help India in the reopening of channels of talks. Under the preconditions for the resumption of dialogue Pakistan had simply to stop export of terror to India, especially to Jammu and Kashmir. Now that Pakistan has not ended export of terror India is justified in refusing bilateral talks. And the Mirwaiz should have reminded Qureshi about the position Indian has taken. Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed displeasure at India's "negative and cold" response to Pakistan's overtures for dialogue and resolution of Kashmir issue. The Mirwaiz, while talking about his telephonic conversation with Mahmood, said Qureshi expressed his dismay that despite their full efforts to start dialogue with Government of India (GoI), they received a cold shoulder from their counterparts. Qureshi has told the Mirwaiz that Pakistan government tried their best to make their relationship with India better, tried to start a composite dialogue and move forward on all issues including Kashmir, "But the response of India was very disappointing". If the response from India was disappointing New Delhi has a reason to do so.Instead Qureshi had simply indoctrinated Maulana for anti-India role. In fact the call from Qureshi to Molvi Umar was simply to make him aware that he needs to launch anti-India protests. Qureshi has said the pro-freedom leadership always wants good relations between the two countries. He seems to have forgotten or deliberately ignored to convey to Molvi Umar Farooq that he should continue to lead the movement against India. It is in the interest of Kashmiri people that India and Pakistan come close, unless they do so Kashmir issue can't be solved," the Mirwaiz said. "If there is any effort between the two countries to make their relationship better, Kashmiri leadership including people will always welcome it. "This means that separatists and their supporters may plan to intervene which India is not prepared for. Let Pakistan first stop exporting terror to India, including Jammu and Kashmir, and stop pushing groups of militants into the Kashmir valley and end ceasefire violations. If Pakistan does so it is the duty of India to reopen the channels of dialogue. We are in favour of India and Pakistan to improve their bilateral ties and this is possible if Pakistan stops export of terror. It is quite genuine that talks and terror cannot go together. If Pakistan ends ceasefire violations for pushing groups of militants into Kashmir there could be a possibility for better India-Pakistan relations. |
