Jammu, Feb 1: 'Ghar Wapsi' of former MLA R S Pura Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat has exposed prevailing mess and chaos in the Pradesh Congress because faction ridden party has failed to keep such a potential leader in its flock.
Bhagat, who was convinced by BJP leadership to quit job of Professor from SKUAST Jammu to contest elections in 2008 assembly polls, was denied ticket in 2014 assembly elections for allegedly crossing voting in MLC elections.
After being humiliated by the BJP, Prof Bhagat had joined Congress party in the year 2016 but party leadership has failed to give him his due space due to factionalism in the party.
Credible sources said that instead of giving assurance of party mandate to Prof Bhagat in the coming elections, Congress leadership was trying to project other defunct leaders who have already lost elections a number of times earlier.
Sources said that Congress leadership has started sidelining Prof Bhagat, who has ultimately decided to go back to BJP especially after Gagan Bhagat joined NC. Prof Bhagat was among seven MLAs, who were expelled from BJP on the charges of voting in favour of National Conference and Congress candidates in the Legislative Council elections held on April 13, 2001. |
