Early Times Report
BARAMULLA, Feb 16: The vital road leading to vital public offices and the court complex in Baramulla town is in dilapidated condition causing huge inconvenience to the visitors and the general public but authorities have been in deep slumber of indifference. Besides the main road, most of the internal in main town of Baramulla are dotted with potholes. Shabir Ahmad an employee in court complex Baramulla told Early Times that, last year only potholes were filled with sand and dust and presently the non-seriousness of the authorities including R&B and Beacon can be gauged by the fact that the roads leading towards the town are in shambles. "I think the road is just five kilometers and it takes an hour to reach Baramulla to Khowjabagh or vice versa when there are traffic jams", said Shabir. Bashir Ahmad, a shopkeeper in Kanthbagh said that, the area has always faced political neglect and till date the constituency has witnessed very little development in every field. "Over these years, I have seen that during elections several leader of different parties come to this town for their election campaigns, and they just give dole false assurances to the People, but once they get elected they never care to improve roads and other important facilities in the district", said a shopkeeper. A local resident of the town, Mohammad Shafi said, "We have been constantly writing to the authorities but it has fallen on deaf ears. This is a crucial road and it needs to be repaired once the snow gets cleared from roads. "You see the condition of roads from Khanpora to Baramulla town, all are in shambles, and fact of the matter is that we have been ignored for years on developmental front, our pleas to various Governments have fallen on deaf ears and we continue to suffer, said locals. |
